There are two ways to approach supplements and nutrition. One: buy everything that's hyped, take it all at once, never know what works. The other: systematically test what actually changes something for you. The second is cheaper, smarter — and honestly the entire point of "biohacking" before the word became a marketing term.
Here's the uncomfortable truth: people respond differently. Studies show averages. Whether magnesium helps you sleep, whether a shake bloats you, whether rhodiola sharpens your focus — that's in no study. You have to find that out yourself.
How to do it properly (the N=1 experiment)
One thing at a time. Never start five new things at once. If you take three supplements together and feel better — which one was it? You don't know. Change one variable, then the next.
Measure something. Not just "feels good". Pick one or two concrete markers: sleep score, resting heart rate, training performance, morning energy, digestion. Write them down. Your gut feeling lies more often than you think — the placebo effect is real and strong.
Give it time. Some things work immediately (caffeine), many only after weeks (adaptogens, creatine, omega-3). Two days is not a test. Budget 4–8 weeks per compound.
Test the removal too. The strongest test: stop something and see if things get worse. If they don't — save your money.
Base before fine-tuning. Before you test exotic roots: sleep, movement, real food, water, low sugar. That base does more than any niche supplement. An adaptogen won't repair chronic sleep deprivation.
Where to start
If you want a structured starting point rather than a random shelf: the Daily Base Stack covers the gaps most people actually have (D3, omega 3, magnesium, zinc) — that's your baseline, not an experiment. Then run one variable at a time on top: creatine for training and focus, the Night Stack for sleep, the Recovery Stack after hard sessions. One at a time. Measure. Decide.
The Outperformer stance
Be curious, but not naive. Try things — including the ones where the evidence isn't 100% settled, as long as they're safe and legal. But measure the results instead of believing the hype. Your body is the only lab that counts for you. The best stack isn't the most expensive one, or the one from your favourite podcast — it's the one that demonstrably works for you.
